Promotion Requirements

E-1:(Seamen Recruit /SR)
Upon Enrollment

E-2: (Seamen Apprentice /SA)
Given by Platoon Commander upon completion of platoon indoctrianation.
1. Return all of required paper work. (SRF, Uniform Issue, Medical Screen Form.)
2. Completion of physical (If required)
3. Uniform first wear

E-3: (Seamen /SN)
Given by Platoon Commander upon completion of the following.
1. Recite the 11 General Orders
2. Earned the Community Service Ribbon.
3. No missed unifrom wear days during that marking period.
Recite the Chain Of Command(CIC to Platoon Chief).
5. Recommended by the Platoon Leader and Platoon Chief.

E-4: (Petty Officer Third Class /PO3)
Given by Platoon Commander upon completion of the following.
1. Recite the Definitions of Discipline and Punishment.
2. Earned the Exemplary Uniform Ribbon.
3. No missed uniform wear days in that marking period.
4. Recommended by the Platoon Leader and Chief.

E-5: (Petty Officer Second Class /PO2)
Command Master Chief Board Required. Platoon Leader and /or Plt CPO MUST ATTEND:
1. Recite the Definition of Leadership and Courage.

E-6: (Petty Officer First Class /PO1)
Command Master Chief Board Required. Platoon Leader and /or Plt CPO MUST ATTEND:
1. No missed uniform wear days during that marking period
2. Must have served as a Squad or Assistant Squad Leader.
3. Earned 2nd Community Service and Unit Service Ribbon.
4. Must serve as the platoon LPO/Asst. LPO

E-7: (Chief Petty Officer /CPO)
Command Master Chief Board Required. Platoon Leader and Plt CPO MUST ATTEND:
1. Recommended by the Company Commander, Platoon Leader, and Platoon Chief.
2. No missed uniform waer days during that marking period.
3. 500 word report on current Naval events.

E-8: (Senior Chief Petty Officer /SCPO)
Command Master Chief Board Required. Platoon Leader and Company Commander

MUST ATTEND:
1. Recommended by the Company Commander, Platoon Leader, and Platoon Chief.
2. No missed uniform waer days during that marking period.
3. 600 word report on current Naval events.

 


The 11 General Orders of a Sentry

1.) To take charge of this post and all government property in view.

2.) To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything which takes place within sight or hearing.

3.) To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.

4.) To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guard house or quarter-deck than my own.

5.) To quit my post only when properly relieved.

6.) To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentry who relieves me, all orders from the Commanding Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Day, Officer of the Deck, officers and Petty Officers of the watch only.

7.) To talk to no one except in the line of duty.

8.) To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.

9.) To call the Corporal of the Guard or Officer of the Deck in any case not covered by instructions.

10.) To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.

11.) To be especially watchful at night and during the time for challenging, challenge all persons on or near my post, and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.

Definitions


Discipline: The true meaning of discipline is not punishment, but the development of self-control and teamwork, which enables men and women to strive for perfection, and achieve greatness.

Courage: Courage is the mastery of fear and the resistance of fear, but not the absence of fear.

Leadership: Leadership may be defined as an art, science, or gift by which a person is enabled and privileged to direct the thoughts, plans,and actions of others in such a manner as to command their respect, confidence, obedience, and loyal cooperation.

Punishment: The definition of punishment is the outcome for lack of discipline.
